	This map is titled "Piante prospettica e topografica di Venezia," and it was created by Unknown in 1858/1859. It was published by Verona. G. Schöpf. Its original provenance was an itinerary map, with illustrative notes on the route of the I.R. Ferdinandea Lombardo-Venetian Railway from Venice to Verona. Its dimensions are 168 mm by 3013 mm, and it shows Venice in a perspective single-color lithograph map. ~~The~~ prospective map, glued to the inside cover as a preview of the route, is a reproduction of the larger map engraved by C. Lalaisse for “L’Histoire de la République de Venise” (see card 266). The topographical map that follows represents the starting point of the railway route from Venice to Verona, a partial section of the Ferdinandea Venice - Milan Railway, inaugurated in 1857. The route is marked in the center of the sheet with triple ruling; all the towns located along the route are named, and often the most significant localities are depicted. Parallel to the route, there is a thin line indicating the distances between the various localities in meters. The route ends with a panorama of Verona, next to which are marked the total distance of 115,113 meters and the number of inhabitants of the main cities concerned (120,000 for Venice, 48,000 for Padua, 29,000 for Vicenza, and 60,000 for Verona). Chronologically perhaps earlier, with the same modalities, i.e., preceded by the identical maps of Venice but with a significantly shorter development (mm. 168 X 1013), the route from Venice to Treviso is published by the same publisher.
