Bell Tower Clocks
Bell Tower Clocks are clocks that exist on the face of a bell tower specific to a Venetian church. There are currently 8 assessed bell tower clocks in Venice and Murano.
History
The history of the Bell Tower Clocks are woven into the history of their corresponding church. Links to individual Bell Tower and church pages are provided in the Internal Links section at the bottom of this page.
Decorations
The decorations for most of the Bell Tower Clocks vary considerably. What stays constant is the usage of roman numerals to define the hour. The Clock - S. Apostoli and the Clock - San Giovanni di Rialto have hands with a golden sun at the center. The other Bell Tower Clocks have either green or black hands with a white background.

Types
These Bell Tower Clocks either measure time by the hour, like the Clock - San Zaccaria, or by the minute, like the Clock - Santo Stefano di Murano. Those that measure by the hour have one hand while those that measure by the minute have two. Six of these clocks measure time on a 12-hour interval, while only two of them measure time on a 24-hour interval. The two 24-Hour clocks are the Clock - S. Apostoli and the Clock - San Giovanni di Rialto.
