The majority of street pavement found in Venice are Stone Pavements however there are still a few remaining walkways paved with Brick. These Brick Pavements represent under 2% of paved Streets in Venice. There are also some walkways paved with asphalt but they make up only a fraction of a percentage in comparison to Stone Pavements and Brick Pavements.

Brick Pavement

Roads in Venice were initially paved with Brick beginning in 1264.[1] Today these Brick Pavements represent under 2% of paved Streets in Venice.

Stone Pavement

The Stone Pavement seen in the majority of Streets in Venice today are paved almost entirly of Masegni. These Masegni stones started being used to pave Streets in 1676.[2] Masegni make up about 90% of stones used in pavements.
