Purpose Decorative

A sculpture is any decorative image or figure that has been crafted out stone, metal, wood, or some other medium. Sculptures are also a sub-set of material culture. This broad definition encompasses most of the Venetian decorative artifacts, so generally the term sculpture is used to refer to statues. Statues are often found accentuating the roofs of important buildings and churches and add figurative, often human, elements to the building’s architecture, augmenting its overall beauty and visual interest.
