Overview of Bridge

The Ponte del Cavaletto , constructed in 1769, was built primarily using Mattoni e Pietra d'Istria. It crosses the Rio de le Procuratie bridging a gap which is 5.61 meters. The bridge is not a crooked bridge. On the northern side of the bridge is the sestiere of San Marco and on the southern side is also San Marco .There are 2 ramps. On the north side there are 10 steps, on the south side there are 11 steps. This results in a total of 21 steps. The height of a typical step is 13 meters, the thickness of a step is about 46.5 centimeters, and the width of a step is about 1.52 meters. The steps are paved with Asfalto. The bridge is not handicapped accessible and it does not have an additional railing. The summit is 1.8 meters wide and 2.6 meters in length for a total area of about 4.68 meters. The summit is paved with Asfalto. Also, this bridge has 1 arch. The bridge's Vuoto Decorato railing is made of Metallo and is about 3.50 meters wide is about 0.94 meters tall. Finally, the bridge protrudes 0.6 meters to the North and 0.15 meters to the South.

History

The following is any history we have regarding the bridge's origins:

San Marco. These roads, a time subject to the parish of San Geminianus, took their name from a tavern, which is still open in the name of \Stand.\ We have a lot of data to believe it one of the oldest in Venice. In that \Mariegola\ of the Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia, which Principia coll'anno 1308, and reaches to 1499, is found ascribed as a brother \Giacomello De Gratia from Stand from San Geminianus, which is probably that same \James the Cavaleto, \which in that parish made loans to the Republic in 1379. In 1398 a \Zaninus from Cavaleto tabernarius to Cavaletum in S. Marco \had a conviction for use in your tavern wine jars of lower seal prescribed. An 'de Alemania Armanus q. Petri hospes to hospitium Cabaleti in S.to Marco ', having fenced at Catterina from Ferrara, a girl of about 10 years, which, for fear of beatings, had run away from home, and had been found weeping in the evening at the church of S. Mark Nicholas from a German prestinaio, took away that same night the flower maiden. He therefore, by judgment of 25 September 1413 he was sentenced to a year in prison and to a fine of 100 ducats, to settle the \Chamber of Imprestidi,\ to marry the girl at the time. This being passed to another life, the fine is devolved to the City, but the landlord had the grace to pay it in installments of 10 ducats per year. The Inn of the 'stand' trovavasi also open in the sixteenth century, namely in 1566 was led by a certain \Brunetto,\ which led close to another tavern full of \Leon White.\\nThe \Calle del Stand\ is called also \Calle Side of the Church\ because it runs along the oratory of S. Gallo.\nHaving Messer Bernardo Giustiniani q. Lorenzo q. Bernard, by S. Moses, conspired a long time, leaning against the 'Bridge Trestle, \also called\ Bridge Field Rusolo, \with a woman in there domiciled, former servant of Nicol Aurelio, Secretary of the X, and then married to a scribe to\ Magistrate of the Forestier, \and being the same glue to enter the house, was mortally wounded, out of jealousy, by Messer Angelo Bragadin, q. Peter, July 6, 1515, three hours at night. Strascinatosi put up in the \Field Rusolo,\ there fell, and in the morning he was found cold corpse. Sanudo says: \And 'STA acerbissimo caxo and miserable, the more so\ (Giustiniani) \ruled the famegia soa and havia optima fame among all. It was nice and wise, but the faza \(had)\ manzata from varuole; proportionato in reliquis well. He was the co zipon scfia in the head, et without arms. \ For this crime the Bragadin, summoned to appear and which had become contumacious, was banned capitalmente 14 August of the same year.
