Length

Venice's canals vary in length from as short as 26 meters in length to as long as 4 kilometers with the middle 50% of the canals being from 171.9 meters in length to 529.8 meters in length.

The total length of the 182 inner canals of Venice, if they were laid end to end, are 46 kilometers in length. This is roughly the length of the Venetian lagoon, which is 47 kilometers in length.

Width

The Grand Canal, in addition to being the longest canal, is also the widest canal in the city; it's average width is 60 meters across. This is in comparison to the thinnest canal, the 3 meter wide Rio de San Boldo and the average canal width of 9 meters.
