1800 Stockdale A Plan of the City of Venice

This map is a good depiction of the city of Venice in the year 1800. The author, John Stockdale, was born a blacksmith but then moved into making maps.

The map he produced of Venice is a good depiction of the city, taking into account that he was making the map on ground level.

There is a small portion of the map that is incorrect based on the size of the islands. However, the map a a whole is very detailed and through.

This map has been used as a bench mark for the shape of Venice from the year 1800.
