diagram of an "on the run" paving layout

This pavement layout is referred to by Venetians as A Correre which translates "to run" or "on the run". This lay out is made of multiple parallel strips of Masegni. Each strip of Masegni is referred to as a run or corso. These runs are staggered due to the variation in the lengths of stones used. While the lengths of each stone differs the widths remain the same. This paving layout can be jointed using closed joints, cement joints, or ironed line joints depending on whether new or old Masegni are being used.[1]
