Strada is Italian for "road". Everywhere in Italy, with the exception of Venice, streets are called strade or vie. The Strada Nuova is the only strada in Venice. The Strada Nuova was built while Venice was under Austrian rule; it is a very wide and busy street, being lined with many shops.[1]
