Billa

This is the closest to the Venice Project Center, and is one of the major stores in the city, right on Strada Nova. It has a central location right off the Ca’ D’Oro Vaporetto stop. This means that it will not necessarily be the closest store to you, though it might have the best selection. There's also a much smaller Billa store on the Zattere.

Punto

Punto is just a short walk from Arco I and Arco II, but can be a little difficult to find. It has a decent selection and price, and you can usually find whatever you need to cook with, and eat there, including peanut butter. If you live in Arco, discovering this store will be a godsend, as the others are too far to walk if you have a lot of food to carry.

SUVE

SUVE, or Supermercato Venezia, if a nice smallish supermarket. It is a block away from Campo Santa Maria Formosa, and has a good selection.

Other, smaller stores

You will be able to find smaller stores in your area that are probably closer than these supermarkets. But they usually have worse prices, and a smaller selection than the larger stores. The best plan is to shop around and see what works best for you.

Other Information

Shopping Bags

Shopping bags cost money here. You will be charged 5 euro cents for each shopping bag you use, which is not very much, but will begin to add up after the first couple of shops to do. So this means that you should be green and reuse them whenever possible.

Daily Shopping

Most Venetians do their shopping more on a day to day basis. This means that you will not see many people lugging around several shopping bags. Also, this is because the food is mostly fresh and free of preservatives. Be aware that some things you buy from bakeries or delis are unlikely to last more than a couple of days. This is both a blessing and a curse. The food, if eaten quickly, is delicious and healthier than a lot of food in the United States, but if left in the fridge or cabinet for a couple days, it will need to be thrown away.
