Pack Light!

I cannot stress enough that Fabio was not kidding when he says you should limit yourself to one bag because of the transportation from the airport to your apartments. Trying to lug two or more bags on and off a boat, over numerous bridges and through narrow, crowded streets while quickly becoming lost for the first time is certainly not the most pleasant way to spend your first hours in Venice.

Your sneakers might get wet

You will have a washer available to you, so there is no need to bring more than two weeks' worth of clothing. Clothing in Venice is a bit pricey to purchase, but there are stores everywhere if you forget something. For electronics, shower soaps and shampoo, and household items, you can take a bus to Panorama (a store similar to Walmart, located about 20 minutes away on the mainland) or buy many of them at a grocery store.

Do remember to bring rainboots! Well, maybe. Even though they can be heavy and bulky, it does rain in Venice and you'll probably wish you had them. However, the number of days that will require them will probably be, at maximum, two, so take this into consideration. You can buy boots in Venice (near the Rialto Bridge), but they can be difficult to find and often expensive. It is a good idea to bring an old pair from home that you can throw away when leaving Venice in order to fit souvenirs.
