Wikimecum:Shopping in Mestre
As you may have noticed (or will notice), shopping in Venice is very expensive. Unless you want to buy overpriced designer brands and souvenirs, you will need to look elsewhere for most of your non-grocery shopping needs.
Panorama
This is a large Wal-Mart-ish supermarket, and is a great place to buy electronics, food, basic clothes, toiletry and bedding. There is a Gamestop and other clothing shops within the same complex as Panorama. To get here, you can take a free Panorama shuttle, which leaves from the Piazzale Roma (Venice's parking lot and bus depot).
Piazza Barche and Piazza Ferretto

Piazza Barche is a large mall-like shopping plaza with a wide variety of shops, including H&M and a large Coin (click here for a list). It's a great place to go to if you want to buy clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. There are several shops in the vicinity of this mall, too, and they are worth visiting. The average price of items is lower - a pair of rainboots cost about 10 euros, compared to a minimum of about 15 euros in Venice.

Behind the mall, there is a street lined with shops, which leads you to the Piazza Ferretto, a large piazza with a plethora of shops and restaurants.
To get here, you can take the number 4 bus line from Piazzale Roma. Just ask the driver to let you off near Piazza Barche the first time you visit. You'll cross a long street lined with shops and go around a roundabout before you reach the Piazza. This place is definitely worth a visit, if not for shopping, then at least for hanging out in the Piazza Ferretto.
If you still need to find something after visiting the Piazze Barche/Ferretto, try going to Padova. Padova, being a large city full of students, offers a variety of shops.
