This irregular pavement layout known in Italian as, Opera Incerta, is made up of recycled Masegno or other irregular shaped stones.[1] Mortar is used to fill the gaps (known in Italian as fuga) between the stones. Opera incerta takes up a very small percentage of the pavement in Venice, examples can be seen on Fondamenta Nuovo and near the Accademia Bridge.
