Docks are an essential component of Venice. Since boats are the most efficient way to transport cargo, passengers, or to just get around the city; having an abundance of docks available is critical for the city. There are a total of 1652 docks in Venice itself. They are important because they provide people a place to secure their boat while they unload things such as passengers and cargo. Throughout Venice, there are three types of docks that are used to dock boats.
