A dock in Venice is made of the same materials as the street it is located on. The only exception would be pontili, which are made of wood.

Types

Each dock in Venice has distinct characteristics that clearly defines which type it belongs to. There are three types of docks in Venice.

Components

Each dock has components that are necessary for its use. For securing boats, there are rings, made of iron or steel, and/or poles, that are typically made from wood. Some docks even have railings present, which are made of metal.
