Introduction English
Founded according to tradition in the seventh century and certainly documented in 1131, the church dell'Anzolo Rafael, that is seen in the background in the photo, it was rebuilt in its present form in 1618 by the architect Francesco Contin.�Until about fifty years ago there was celebrated the 'Christ of the boatmen', a ceremony that brought together annually the gondoliers of the city.�It overlooks the river the fourteenth-century Ca 'Arian, whose facade is decorated with an elegant six openings marked with tunnels honeycombing, the only example of its kind in Venice.

Fondata secondo la tradizione nel VII secolo e sicuramente documentata nel 1131, la chiesa dell'Anzolo Rafael, che s'intravvede sullo sfondo nella foto, venne ricostruita nelle forme attuali dall'architetto Francesco Contin nel 1618. Fino a circa cinquant'anni or sono vi veniva festeggiato il 'Cristo dei barcaroli', una cerimonia che riuniva annualmente i gondolieri della citt�. Si affaccia sul rio la trecentesca Ca' Arian, la cui facciata � impreziosita da un'elegante esafora scandita con trafori ad alveare, esempio unico nel suo genere a Venezia.
